Transfer Roundup: July 12th

Julio Cesar

Reports last night were suggesting that Inter Milan’s sporting director was on his way to London to discuss the future of goalkeeper Julio Cesar with both Arsenal and Tottenham.

The 32-year-old would unlikely be the long term future of goalkeeping at the Emirates, but would certainly prove a challenge for Szczesny to keep his role as first-choice keeper, while also providing the 22-year-old with a mentor who would be able to help the young Poles development as a player.

Julio Cesar does look set to leave Milan this summer with Inter missing out on Champions League football, paired with the fact that the Milan based team having already signed a new number one goalkeeper in the form of Samir Handanovic, along with the emergence of Palermo keeper Emiliano Viviano, who is co-owned by Internazionale, thought to be close to a move to the San Siro.

Wesley Sneijder

Gazzetta dello Sport started rumours last night after they reported that Arsenal were looking at making a move for Inter Milan playmaking ace Wesley Sneijder.

Arsenal have lacked a true playmaker since Cesc Fabregas left for his dream move to Barcelona last summer and Sneijder would fill that void perfectly thanks to his speed, great technical ability and his ability to score free kicks.

Although Sneijder would be a fantastic signing and with the money gained from any sale of Robin van Persie the money may be there to spend, there is no way that Arsenal would be willing to pay the Dutchman wages which all but ends any truth to this rumour.

Yann M’Vila

Various sources on Twitter last night were announcing that both Caught Offside and Metro had claimed that Yann M’Vila had signed a 4 year contract with Arsenal for £17m subject to a medical after the Frenchman returns from a holiday on Monday.

Having searched both Caught Offside, Metro and also the usually reliable French paper L’Equipe for the stories I was unable to locate any up to date news mentioning M’Vila and Arsenal, which would suggest that these rumours are again simply fabricated to lead fans astray.

A deal between M’Vila and Arsenal looks unlikely following the reports that Arsene Wenger is unhappy with the players attitude and has already singled out Etienne Capoue as his new number one defensive midfield target.

Twitter is still suggesting that Yann M’Vila will be announced as an Arsenal player early next week, with many sources stating that Monday is the day that he will be announced, so Arsenal fans will just have to wait until after the weekend to see if there is any truth in the rumours.

That’s all for today, but here is some footage of  Wesley Sneijder in action.
